OKTOBERFEST ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

---

We are less than 2 weeks away from celebrating Oktoberfest at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen in Bellingham on Saturday, September 14th from 1-10 pm.The Kids Costume contest will start at 2:15. Chuckanut wants to give the kids a chance to strut their stuff with this activity followed by the Adult Costume judging at 3:30. Then it will be time for Yodelling at 4:45. Chuckanut’s in need of a big group of yodellers this year so if you have friends that can’t resist a good yodel, bring them along with you. The Hammerschlagen contest, where you have to hit a big nail all the way down into a log before anyone else can do it is for adults only because of the degree of difficulty and it starts at 6:30. Chuckanut Brewery Oktoberfest contests end at 7:45 with Liter Holding. This contests pits adults together to see who can hold a liter mug full of water with straight elbows for the longest time. If you aren’t into competing in these contests there’s the bier garden games around the facility including corn hole, ping pong, washers, giant Jenga, ski ball and foosball.

There will be ample opportunity to do the Chicken Dance and sing Eine Prossen multiple times during the day and plenty of polka music for those who enjoy the lively folk dance. Lots of brats, pickled eggs, pretzels, chocolate covered pretzels, bangers & hash and snacks for the hungry. The regular menu will be suspended for the day but returns on Sunday at 11 am. Chuckanut beers at the fest include Fest Bier, Old Fest, Pilsner, Nutburger Pilsner, Helles Lager, Dunkel Lager, Kolsch, Alt, Vienna Lager, British IPA, and several Aged-Vintage Biers. For those that want to be face painted the Bellingham Balloon Fairies will help you out. Special limited-edition half liter Oktoberfest mugs will be for sale while they last. Admission to the big fall celebration is $2 (kids 10 and under free). Whatever you do on September 14 make sure to stop in at the Chuckanut Oktoberfest and start your fall celebrations the German way.

BEERS COMING IN SEPTEMBER

Our fall beers are lining up and there's lots of favorites that will come your way as we move into September, October and November. Remember our regular lagers take at least 6 weeks to make and our Big Biers take at least 3 months. That means the Bock and Baltic Porter are in the tanks aging to be ready for the holidays. Meanwhile we've got the return of the Single Hop Lager series with Hallertau Blanc out near the end of the month. Rauch Marzen Lager (smoky amber lager) will see a return too. But before that you'll see our Old Fest, the Marzen old fashioned style Oktoberfest beer. To balance it all out our new low calorie Chuck Light will be on the market for the first time. This lager was tested as a low calorie beer and will be here before the holidays so you'll have plenty of space for all the delicious food in the winter. Kaffee Dunkel comes back with Ethiopian coffee from Cuovo Coffee in Portland, OR!
